Jake A. Fernandez

Jake Fernandez, is a retired Special Agent of the U.S Justice Department’s Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), where he served with distinction for 24 years. He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and a graduate of Chaminade University of Honolulu, with a BS Degree, in Criminal Justice.

Subsequent to service in the U.S. Coast Guard he joined the Honolulu Police Department where he honed his law enforcement skills until employed as a Special Agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.  During his long career with DEA, Mr. Fernandez was assigned to several field offices including Honolulu, Guam, San Francisco and the U.S. Embassy, Manila, RP, where he held the position of Assistant Country Attaché. During the previous periods he was detailed to numerous special assignments in the war on narco-terrorism including Peru, Malaysia and Saipan where he supervised the joint DEA/Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands Narcotics Task Force. 

Subsequent to his DEA retirement Mr. Fernandez returned to U.S. Government service in response to a call for volunteers following 9/11 and continuing related terrorist threats. In 2003, he joined the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, as an Assistant Federal Security Director at Saipan International Airport. 

In 2005 he retired a second time from U.S. Government service and moved to Manila bringing his extensive law enforcement security background to the private sector as a Security Consultant for multi-national corporations. In this capacity Mr. Fernandez has continued to demonstrate his expertise and unparalleled effectiveness in the conduct of Intellectual Property and Counterfeit product investigations and suppression operations.

Additionally he has been very effective in the corporate fight against Kidnap for Ransom through participation in briefing the families of the Filipino seafarers being held hostage by terrorist groups in Africa and the Middle East and Pre-incident kidnap training prior to the deployment of other workers to high threat areas.    

Mr. Fernandez completed numerous military, state and federal law enforcement, security and anti-terrorist training schools during his varied government career. He reads, writes and speaks Tagalog, fluently and has varying degrees of fluency in several other provincial dialects.
